I am a certified practitioner of REFLEXOLOGY (Wild Rose College).
Centuries ago our forefathers had already discovered the relationship between their health and the rubbing of certain spots on their feet. They felt better when they walked on patches of smooth stones.
In 1926 Eunice Ingham summed it up in her work "Tales Our Feet Tell". Today we recognize the healing effect as being related to a huge computer- our brain- controlling our body through input signals to the keyboard- either our feet, our hands or our ears. Stimulation of certain areas of these "keyboards" causes astonishing and beneficial results in other parts of the body.
Because these results are not in the same place as the stimulation was given, the term of "REFLEXOLOGY" was adopted to describe the phenomena.
To determine the relation of the keyboard activation with the location of the affected body parts requires 2 sets of calculations. First, commencing from right to left, we divide the body into 10 zones. Each zone is aligned with one of the toes, then the zone lines are extended, at the neck and shoulder areas to pass down to your fingers. The connection line from the small toes is extended to align with the small fingers on the same side of the body, and so on.
Let us now consider the vertical coordinates of the body parts. Examine a profile of the sitting body alongside of a side view of the foot. Note how easily the alignment shows up with the head matching to the toes- the swell of the shoulders to the swell of the ball of the foot - the nipping in of the waist line to the instep- the flare of the hips to the swell of the heel, and so on.
The foregoing describes the "Master" keyboard used by the Foot Relexologist. The pattern can be used to help you to visualize the keyboard layout used by the Hand Reflexologist.
How do we activate the computer? The basic movement is a "thumb walk" along a chain of connected Reflex Points, such as the spine or the intestines, or a directed thumb or finger pressure on single reflex points such as glands like the pineal, pituitary, adrenal, eyes, ears, etc. An exception is the appendix, gall bladder or duodenum which are activated by a pinching action on both the top and bottom of the Reflex areas.
