Most practices of complementary healing are based on the fact that the body heals itself. If just needs periodic reminders or a "topping up" of the raw materials, such as energy to do the job. Reiki gives such energy.
This gentle form of healing is actually a supply of energy to the body. Just like the energy to bring you radio and television communication is "smart" enough to bring the correct program to the correct place on your dial, so Reiki energy is smart and goes to the needy part of your body. The entertainment energy is sent by the broadcast directors and Reiki energy is also sent by the program director whom we call GOD. It is reasonable, isn't it, that the GOD who created you would also provide the energy necessary to keep you running.
The treatment usually leaves you very relaxed and at peace. Stress has been relieved.
A Reiki session lasts 30 - 60 minutes and involves the practitioner holding his or her hands just above, or lightly on your body. There is no discomfort, and more important to many, there is no disrobing but you will be more comfortable if you wear loose fitting clothes such as a sweater and slacks.
